Today’s small businesses if it is built on the right foundations of hard work, good product and good customer service is bound to grow very fast and very soon it will start bursting its seams. In such a situation there would always be the need to expand the business and take it to the next higher level. When to expand a home business or small business and when to infuse new capital and people is a quandary which many entrepreneurs face. But before taking a decision to expand the business it should be clearly understood as to what part of the business activities you would like to expand.
Without this your whole expansion plans may go awry and it may even seriously jeopardize your existing business which you have so tenaciously built over the years. If you do a study and come out with a finding that you are not able to meet the customers product or service requirements in terms of quantity, then you could think about the possibility of ramping up your production and manufacturing capacity. However, if you feel that the demand is temporary and seasonal in nature or a one time requirement then you would be better off by getting your production outsourced to meet the particular seasonal requirement.
Infusion of new funds must be done very carefully and after lot of deliberation. You should do a proper sales and revenue projection and should be able to predict a reasonably accurate ROI and should also be in a position to know as to when you will start reaping the benefits of your investment, without which you may face cash flow and other funds-related problems.
