Effective Newsletter

There are lots of business newsletters floating around that look either dull or way too busy. In a newsletter, especially for businesses, you want to have something with pizazz, but not over-flashy. The idea is to capture the attention of the reader and pull them in without losing their interest. The title of a business newsletter should be large, but readable. Do not use cursive. Cursive fonts are similar to people’s handwriting; unreadable. If all else fails, stick to Arial. The background, for the most part’s to be white. The title can be separated from the rest of the segments with a highlighted title in color. It would look as if a banner were at the top of the page. This idea captures the eye and bring the attention straight to the title and down the page. The left column, underneath the title, will be the Table of Contents. Two or three of the most important issues the newsletter covers will be located in the Table of Contents. This area should also be set aside from the rest of the paper. It should have a colorful background, similar to the title, but not the same color. Nothing too bright of a color is good. Neutral tones would be favorable for the Table of Contents. The font size and the width of this column will be slightly smaller than the rest of the newsletter. There should be two other columns on the page to make it look similar to a newspaper. The columns are to be written on a plain, white background. This will make it look as though a professional created it. Two last things that would complete this professional-looking newsletter is a photo and a logo. An optional photo can be placed below the title. The logo can be either in the upper left or right of the title.
